Morning Thought: An Intentional Year Dec 30, 2023
The Lord gave me the word “ Intentional” for 2024. Everything we do must be intentional in the days ahead. What does this mean? It means being strategic and on purpose. It means actions directed by vision, God’s vision and for an intended or intentional goal, God’s goal.
The Lord told me recently “I war with strategy, the devil wars with deceit. The tactics are obvious and you must recognize the difference”. Where do we get the strategy of God? It comes from the secret place. There are things that can only be heard in the secret place and this is why Jesus told us to always pray and not faint, or give up. We must be intentionally in the Presence of God listening.
Being intentional is more than habit, it’s habit with purpose. It’s not just a New Year’s resolution, but a resolve to accomplish the goal. Jesus said “I must be about My Father’s business.” That’s intentional. Jesus told His servants, “occupy or do business until I come.” Jesus said “seek first the kingdom of God”. That’s intentional.
It’s no longer just cursorily reading through the Bible in a year, but asking God to direct every pericope of Scripture for the exact moment we are in. It’s asking God to orchestrate every person we meet to be a recognizable divine encounter for Him, and that we only engage in what we see our Father doing.
Intentional living will offend some because it will weed out the foolish and the time and energy wasters from our lives. It gives no place to dream stealers or vision thieves who are self seeking rather than God honoring.
Being intentional is more than a New Year’s resolution or cute cliche. It’s a lifestyle that must be developed. It’s Spiritual discipline at its highest level. It’s God honoring and requires a balanced spiritual, emotional and physical life. It’s the model Jesus set for us.
John 5:19
So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.
