Fast2012: Day 18

Day 18: PUSH

Psalm 44:5
Through You shall we push down our enemies; through Your name shall
we tread them under who rise up against us.

We are in the transition phase of our fast now with only 4 more days. Just before giving birth, women find themselves in this same stage called transition. It is the most difficult, but the shortest stage of labor and the most uncomfortable, with contractions coming more quickly and more intensely. It is during this phase that a woman will begin to feel the pressure of the new birth that is to come and will often not know what to do except to push.

You may feel the same way in your fast. You are now in the transition phase and you may be feeling the pressure to return back to some old habits, attitudes or mindsets. You may not know what to do, but just as the expectant mother, you can PUSH. The enemy will begin to attack your mind more quickly and more intensely as you progress toward the end. The enemy will want to convince you to give up in the last leg of your journey and he will put the pressure on you to fall back to your old ways.

But you can PUSH. The psalmist declares that through God you can push down your enemies and through His name, you can tread them under your feet. Don’t stop now, but PUSH. PUSH your way through the pressure and attacks of the enemy knowing that you have already been given the victory through Christ.   Declare your victory in Him.  Proclaim His Word over your life and think about what lies ahead.

Psalm 108:13
Through and with God we shall do valiantly, for He it is Who shall tread down our adversaries.
