Day 6: Moving Out into The Deep
Luke 5:4
When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
We are beginning day 6 and by now some of us may be experiencing a little “excited discomfort” with what the Lord is revealing to us. We are excited because the Lord is showing and revealing things and a little uncomfortable because this revelation also brings responsibility to respond to what we are now seeing.
For some of us, we may be feeling the need to launch out a little further, allowing the Lord to do a deeper work within us. The Lord told Simon to launch out and let down his nets. Simon had to make the decision to obey what the Lord was asking and we too must make the decision to obey what the Lord is saying to us at this time. What is the Lord asking you today? Are you letting down you nets for the catch that the Lord wants to give you?
In the fishing world, there is a concept called “ghost nets”. “Ghost nets are fishing nets that have been left or lost in the ocean by fishermen. These nets, often nearly invisible in the dim light, can be left tangled on a rocky reef or drifting in the open sea. They can entangle fish, dolphins, sea turtles, sharks, dugons, crocidiles, seabirds, and crabs and other creatures, including the occasional human diver. Acting as designed, the nets restrict movement, causing starvation, laceration and infection, and suffocation in those that need to return to the surface to breathe.” (Wikipedia)
I believe these nets are much like the promises and prophetic words that have been released over our lives and for some reason we have let go of them. They continue to wander around in the ocean of our life, catching frustration, doubt and unbelief because we have not pulled them in and claimed the catch that is ours, even though we fully believe the catch is out there for us, if we can just find it.
The Lord told Peter where to find his catch. The Lord will tell us where to find our catch as we heed His Word of revelation to us and as we obey the Word we hear. Do you need to launch further out into the deep? Don’t fear, Jesus is in the boat with you and He will guide you to make the changes that are necessary to find your catch. Remember, launching your boat and letting down your nets are decisions you make. Let’s launch out today!
