Fast2012: Day 4

Day 4 A Day of Determination

Matthew 14:28–29 — 28 And Peter answered Him, Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water. 29 He said, Come! So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water, and he came toward Jesus.

Everyone knows the story of Peter walking on the water.   Everyone also remembers that Peter began to sink when he changed his focus from reaching Jesus, his intended goal, to the waves and wind around him.  There is much to be learned in this short story of such great faith and determination.

Peter was determined to reach Jesus even if it meant doing the impossible, walking on water.  For some of us, fasting may seem like the impossible, but just like Peter, we must keep our eyes on our goal.   How determined are we to see our fast through to the end and realize the goals we have set.

Many desire to become more intimately acquainted with God.  Others need a miracle breakthrough in their finances, health or employment.   Whatever your goal, keep it directly before you and walk on the water of your faith.

Remember, like Peter, if we begin to focus on the circumstances of life rather than our goal, we too will begin to sink.  Be determined today to continue to the end.  If you have slipped, then readjust.  When Peter began to sink, Jesus took his hand and brought him safely to Him.   He is offering the same to us today.

 Be determined!
